Case 03 – collapse in surgical ward

Ms. Smith had been admitted for an elective cholecystectomy due to chronic cholecystitis. The surgery was uneventful, and she was transferred to the surgical ward postoperatively. While ambulating to the restroom, Ms. Smith suddenly collapsed. Nursing staff found her unresponsive. After approximately 30 seconds, she regained consciousness but appeared pale, sweaty, and disoriented. You are called for assessment Her vital signs were: BP 80/50 mmHg, pulse 110 bpm (weak and thready), respiratory rate 24 breaths/min, and oxygen saturation 95% on room air.
